The Shard

I’ve been commuting to Kent twice a week as part of a new job. I’ve been up at the crack of dawn and at Waterloo East most days at around 7.30am.
In my other job as a property journalist I used to write about the Shard when it was just at the planning stage; just an architect’s dream.
In the interim I had kids and didn’t keep up much with goings on in the City.
Seeing it now in 3D rising up above London’s skyline, despite all the negativity that surrounds it, is pretty breathtaking,

For now it’s still the tallest building in Europe, and with the sun rising in the background you can kind of see what Renzo Piano, the architect, was getting excited about all those years ago…
